Google to retire Google Reader next July

If you are using Google Reader RSS, then you should look for an alternate as Google announced last week that starting from first July 2013, Google Reader’s life will come to end. Google reader was launched in 2005 and its aim was to help users subscribe to content from their favorite news sites and blogs. “While the product has a loyal following, over the years, usage has declined. So, on July 1, 2013, we will retire Google Reader,” said Urs Hölzle, the vice president of Technical Infrastructure. And before the shutdown of Google Reader, users could export their subscriptions using Google Takeout. For those interested in RSS, there are some other alternatives they can turn too such as Feedly, Netvibes, Skimr, Readefine
