Home Remedies for Cold and Its Common illnesses

When the weather changes a big proportion of people suffer from mild to severe cases of Coughs, cold, sore throats and sometimes ear infections. Of course medicine is being sold in every pharmacy, it would be best however, to use natural home remedies to get rid of these uncomfortable illnesses without having to consume antibiotics that can to some extent have an after effect. It is advised to get rid of these illnesses quickly as they are considered contagious and can affect your family members and most importantly kids. Jumping right to it, here are some home remedies that can help.

 

Make your coughs softer

 

Coughs can really be a nuisance especially at work or in bed, they will either keep you awake or distracted in your job. there are several remedies to reduce the severity of a bad cough:

Rubbing vapor rub is the most common treatment and it is not that bad. it can be be made by using a half cup of coconut oil and 10 drops of breathe essential oil, quantity can be increased depends on how much vapor rub you want to make.

Cough syrup is also effective, make yours by adding only one drop of lemon, orange or peppermint essential oil to a spoon of honey and swallow.

 

Cold Prevention Is Better Than Remedy

 

Drink herbal tea, ginger ale, or warm lemonades to keep your throat moist and hydrated. You can also rub breathe, thieves or on guard essential oils on your back and especially the end of your spine area, below the shoulder blades and your feet.

 

Curing Sore Throats

 

This is the most annoying feeling you can have during a short period of time. Feeling like a crack in your throat in not so much fun, it a sign that your body is going to pass through a terrible wave of cold, so before you catch cold make sure you fight it by drinking a very strong herbal tea. You could for starters mix the herbs by taking one spoon of each of these dried herbs: peppermint, Yarrow, Chamomile Raspberry Leaves, put them in boiled water after you turned the fire off, and let the elements mix for about 25 to 30 minutes then filter the mixture from the herbs and drink up to four cups a day for three to four days.

 

Treating Ear Infections at Home

 

Ear infection can be very painful if you dwell on them and ignore them especially for children who can’t handle pain very much, usually antibiotics are the most effective to cure these infections, but these home remedies can function efficiently if done right and we advise that you try them first:

Drop two drops of Garlic and Mullein oil in the infected area and lay for one minute to let the medicine sink deeper into the ear, this process should be repeated up to five times a day. Lemon, Basil and Rosemary essential oils are also good for reducing the pain of ear infection.

 

As we have mentioned before, home remedies are better than using antibiotics, so you would better consult these natural cures before you rush into anything chemical.
