Customizing Your Car With A Quality Sound System

Disappointed with your current car sound system? If you want to improve the sound output, it is possible to customize your car with the adequate material to meet your style, desire, and needs. To get an idea of what you want, listen to your music inside the car both in an immobile and mobile situation, and analyze what the system lacks. A subwoofer will improve your bass, you can improve your speakers, and other equipment are available to you. Before getting started, consider also your budget and the space you can provide for the new system. Here are, more in details, tips to help you design your own beaming sound system.

1-Head Unit

This will enable you to control your system, you just need to figure out the material used for reading music. Whether proposing CD or DVD player, auxiliary and USB inputs, Bluetooth connexion, a navigation system, or all these at once, there is a various range of head units you could choose from according to your needs. If you’re not looking to add external amps, there are head units with a built-in amp, but you won’t be able to improve your subwoofers.

2- Speaker

Replacing your speakers will significantly improve your sound. You can either choose to replace one at a time or to completely do a makeover. If you choose to do the former, you can improve your set by installing 2-way or 3-way coaxial speakers. You will notice a gradual improvement each time you upgrade a new speaker. More precisely, the output sound will be clearer in its different frequencies. On the other hand, if you decide to install a whole new set of speakers, think to get speakers specifically designed for each section in your car with a combination of tweeters,  mid-range speakers in the front and low-range in the back.

3- Amplifier

Amplifiers channels some of the energy from the car’s electrical system into the speakers. Each channel from an amplifier connects to a speaker. Therefore, have an amp with enough channels to connect to the speakers that need power the most (mid-range and full-range speakers for example), and keep two other channels for your subwoofer. Look out for the product information, you would want an amp that supplies with enough continuous power (RMS) such as an 1000W amplifier that would deliver 200 to 300W of continuous power. What remains to figure out before purchasing then is the emplacement of the amp. It could be placed in various spaces such as in the boot, below a seat, or against the passenger’s firewall.

4- Subwoofer

A subwoofer will improve significantly the quality sound of your bass. An amplifier is necessary to supply enough power to the subwoofer. Don’t be distracted by size, depending on the quality, a bunch of 10-inch subs can be far greater than a 12-inch one. Again, look at product information, notably the RMS, and verify it doesn’t overpower your amplifier. Subwoofers have to be sealed inside a box that will absorb shock from the moving cone and regulate the flow of the air. A nice emplacement is one with wide space, such as the boot for example.

5- Sound Deadener

To smoothen your music and reduce road noise and noises produced from the vibration of speakers, consider buying a sound deadener, especially if you have installed subs. It will equalize your music even at a high volume and get rid of any clatter.

6- Capacitor

Plugging in all these units may well overload the car’s energy system, despite the amplifier’s regulating role. To avoid any bad surprise such as dim lights, try investing in a capacitor; it stores for a time power from the car’s batteries and provides it to the amplifier when needed.
